Ian + Edwin = Magic

Classical musicians with the verve of jazzmen

Edwin Huizinga, violin + Ian Scarfe, piano Monday, February 16, 7:30pm The Emerald Tablet 80 Fresno St. (North Beach) San Francisco Pianist Ian Scarfe will be joined by violinist Edwin Huizinga, who will be coming from his home in Toronto, Ontario. The duo will tour California for two weeks in February, with the final performance being at the beautiful and intimate Emerald Tablet Gallery in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. The duo will perform classical and contemporary works by Bach, Brahms, Gershwin, Kreisler, and Ravel, and from John Adams' evocative work Road Movies. As both gentlemen are accomplished speakers as well as performers, the evening will feature fun and informative commentary on everything from the life of a traveling musician to the stories of the composers and works being performed. These are two of the musicians that brought you the ‘unforgettable’ Four Seasons last June, when their energetic performance demonstrated that “the sort of jamming we associate with modern jazz masters, such as John Coltrane and Bud Powell, could also be found in the performing practices of eighteenth-century music”. Huizinga was on violin and the concert was organised by Scarfe. Come and partake of this remarkable musical energy again! For more information, please visit this page.
