Father and Son: kinship and clashes in cinema
Tuesday night film series

In celebration of Father’s Day, as well as Nanni Moretti’s return to Cannes this year, the Istituto presents the Tuesday night film series “Father and Son: kinship and clashes in cinema”, curated by Chiara Napoleoni.
All dvd screenings are in Italian with English subtitles.
Tuesday, June 7 at 6:30 pm: The Son’s Room (La stanza del figlio) by Nanni Moretti (2001, 95 min.) A psychoanalyst and his family suffer a profound loss with the death of their son. Starring Nanni Moretti and Laura Morante. Winner of the Palme d’Or.
Tuesday, June 14 at 6:30 pm: My Brother Is an Only Child (Mio fratello è figlio unico) by Daniele Luchetti (2007, 100 min.). An enchanting portrait of an Italian family in the 1960’s starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Luca Zingaretti, and Elio Germano who won the Palme D’Or in 2010.
Tuesday, June 21 at 6:30 pm: The Keys to the House (Le chiavi di casa) by Gianni Amelio (2005, 105 min.) The moving story of a young father and his relationship with his disabled son. Starring Kim Rossi Stuart and Charlotte Rampling.
Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 pm: Caterina in the Big City (Caterina va in città) by Paolo Virzì (2003. 105 min.). A coming of age tale of a girl who moves to Rome from the countryside with her parents. Starring Sergio Castellitto e Margherita Buy.
Tuesday, July 5 at 6:30 pm Along the Ridge (Anche libero va bene) by Kim Rossi Stuart (2006, 105 min.) A touching portrait of a single father whose fragility emerges from behind his stoic fatherly persona.
